COVID 19 GUIDELINES AND UPDATED OPS PLAN

 

Packet Pickup: Friday Friday June 19th: 3pm-6:30pm | Race Day 5am – 8:45am

  • At Start/Finish location
  • Race Packets pre packed and ready for quick taking from Runners at check in
  • Social Distancing while in Line to pick up packet

Course Talk

  • Pre Recorded Video that will be emailed to all runners

Pre-Race: Race Morning

  • Start | Finish Area:
    • Social Distancing enforced around Start/Finish area
    • Corral Rolling Start:
      • Rows up to 4 People- 6ft apart
  • Drop Bags:
    • Drop Bag location placed for each Aid Station to collect and take by Volunteers to Aid Station (contains any race fuel/nutrition runner may need)
  • Porta Potties:
    • Appropriate sanitation and hand washing in place.  Volunteers assist in cleansing of Porta Potties after use

On Course:

  • Consider physical distancing throughout the race, especially when passing
  • others, including the public.
  • Announce your intention to pass.
    • If necessary, step off trail to allow a minimum of six feet.
  • If you cannot achieve a six-foot gap, turn your back toward people you are moving past.
  • Self awareness with spitting/snot rockets – move off the trail and allow extra distance from other trail users. 
  • If you cannot hold it, Leave No Trace. Move 10 feet away from the trail.
    • Dig a six-inch-deep hole. Cover the mess. Pack out all toilet paper and personal
  • hygiene products.
  • Carry out trash
  • Runners must contain all trash in a sealable bag to avoid any contamination to others. Multiple bags may be needed.

Aid Stations:

  • Runners:
    • Use hand washing or sanitizing station as you arrive.
    • Follow race no-touch guidelines and volunteer instructions.
    • e.g. Open your bottle or present your personal cup. Volunteers pour water or other beverages. Volunteers distribute food using gloves or tongs.

Volunteers:

  • Volunteers to wear disposable gloves and change frequently 
  • Volunteers will not have contact with runners bottles or trash 
  • Volunteers will unload, transport and layout drop bags to minimize contact. 

 

VOLUNTEER CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Consider self-quarantine for two weeks prior to the event.
  • Volunteers in the “at risk” category should consider their health and safety before attending.
  • Follow the current recommendations by the CDC and the most recent
  • Any volunteer who has been exposed to a known COVID-19 case or exhibits symptoms themselves will be asked to stay at home

RUNNER CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Consider self-quarantine for two weeks prior to the event.
  • Follow the current recommendations by the CDC and the most recent public safety standards around social distancing and sanitation
  • Runner is responsible for communicating all race policies to spectators.

 

*Runners and Volunteers:

  • Please be sensitive to the residents of Mt Shasta.  I am recommending all runners to come in for the race and post race do not extend your stay in Mt Shasta and head back home.

Race Details:

Mt Shasta.  With the peak hitting 14,180 ft- it draws you in and gets your adrenaline pumping.  Between epic single track and remote/trail like forest road your adventure on the mountain awaits.  Come hit the trails and put your body and mind to the test.  Choosing from our 10k, 30k, 50k or 50 mile- you cant go wrong.

Course Description:

10k:

  • From Start Line- Continue on Gateway Trail for 3 miles until you reach the Aid Station 1. Fuel up at the Aid Station and you will then take a hard RIGHT as you leave.  You will then proceed on the Gateway Trail back towards the Finish!

 

30k:

  • From the Start- Head down the Power Line Trail and make your way to the Gateway Trail for about 2.6miles. Then take a LEFT on Forest Rd 40N16Y and you will take it UP to Everitt Memorial Hwy and Aid Station 1 at mile 4.7. Go across Everett Memorial and make your 2.5 mile climb UP 41N56 (is an out and back) Once you reach the turn around point- make your way back DOWN to Aid Station 2 (Same as AS1).  Cross the road and head back DOWN 40N16Y and keep LEFT to get to Aid Station 3 at mile 11.4.  Head LEFT and follow Gateway Trail.  You will take a slight RIGHT onto Forest Road and then LEFT onto Pig Farm.  Continue over Tunnel Trail and ONTO My Trail.  You will then take a LEFT onto Marley Trail where you will reach Aid Station 4 at mile 15.25 (same as AS2) Fill up, head LEFT on Gateway Trail until you find your way back to the FINISH!

50k:

  • From the Start- Head down the Power Line Trail and make your way to the Gateway Trail.  Around mile 3 keep left and you will make your way up 40N16Y to Everrett Memorial Hwy.  Fuel up at Aid Station 1.  Go across Everett Memorial and make your 2.5 mile climb UP 41N56 (is an out and back) Once you reach the turn around point- make your way back DOWN to Aid Station 2 (Same as AS1) Continue along Everitt Memorial Hwy until you reach the Aid Station on your Right and continue on 40N25.  You will then keep left to get onto 40N06Y.  Continue on the trail until you reach the Turn Around!  Then Make your way back to Everett Memorial and the Aid Station. Take a LEFT on Everitt Memorial and make your way to where Aid Station 1 was.  Take a LEFT on 40N16Y until you reach Aid Station 5.  Fill up and then head down Gateway Trail.  From there go LEFT on Pig Farm, LEFT onto My Trail,  LEFT onto Marley Trail and reach the Aid Station for the last time.  You will then proceed to Gateway Trail towards the Start/Finish Line taking Gateway Trail all the way back to Everitt Memorial where you will cross the road- head up the Power Line Trail and to the FINISH!

50 mile:

  • From the Start- Head down the Power Line Trail and make your way to the Gateway Trail.  Around mile 3 keep left and you will make your way up 40N16Y to Everrett Memorial Hwy.  Fuel up at Aid Station 1.  Go across Everett Memorial and make your 2.5 mile climb UP 41N56 (is an out and back) Once you reach the turn around point- make your way back DOWN to Aid Station 2 (Same as AS1) Continue along Everitt Memorial Hwy until you reach the Aid Station on your Right and continue on 40N25.  You will then keep left to get onto 40N06Y.  Continue on the trail until you reach the Turn Around!  Then Make your way back to Everett Memorial and the Aid Station.  Once you arrive- turn RIGHT onto Everitt Memorial and keep climbing until you get to the Sand Flat.  Take a LEFT onto 41N60.  Enjoy the EPIC views of Mt Shasta as you continue to the Trail Head- Horse Camp and you will horshoe around and come down to Bunny Flat where the Aid Station awaits.  Make your way up Everitt Memorial to Old Ski Bowl and from there you will get on Green Butte Trail and get yourself a bit over 9300ft.  Take in the View and then turn around and make your way back to Bunny Flat.  You then continue back the same way you camp up through Horse Camp Trail, Sand Flat and back onto Everitt Memorial.   Take Everitt Memorial all the way back down to where you hit Aid Station 1 and go LEFT onto 20N16Y.  You will hit the Aid Station– fill up then proceed LEFT onto the Gateway Trail.  From there go LEFT on Pig Farm, LEFT onto My Trail,  LEFT onto Marley Trail and reach the Aid Station for the last time.  You will leave taking 40N88 all the way back to Everitt Memorial where you will cross the road- head up the Power Line Trail and to the FINISH!

Due to Public Health and Safety Protocals the Aid Stations will have the following:

STR Goes Cupless! In an effort to do our part in minimizing waste on and off the trails there will no longer be paper cups for water/soda/tailwind use but you will need to carry your own cup and/or water bottle to utilize at each aid station. It’s lightweight, easy to hold, reusable and collapsible so you can tuck it almost anywhere

Refund Policy
Entry fees to STR runs are non-refundable. With advanced notice, we will transfer 100% of your entry fee if you reach out to us up to TWO WEEKS prior to the event.  You will be able to transfer 50% of your entry fee from TWO WEEKS up to 96hrs of the event.  You must utilize the tranfer fee within 12 months to another STR Event.  Please email shastatrailruns@gmail.com
